I have years of hiking and backpacking experience and am most comfortable in the outdoors. With years of guiding experience, through MeetUp Groups, UC Davis Outdoor Adventures, and personal guiding, my passion is in helping others "stretch" themselves by experiencing things they might not otherwise experience. Through these organized events, my goal is to provide a safe environment for ladies of all experience levels to learn new things and grow. I meet each participant where they are at and believe we all have a unique badassery waiting to be discovered. My communication line is open and I look forward to sharing outdoor adventures with each of you. Let's journey together ~ Tarita

Women’s Backpacking: Wildcat Camp with Alamere Falls

Non-Refundable Minimum Contribution: $45  Gear Add On: $65 (6 available)

Participants: 8 total

Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued for the minimum contribution unless the organizer cancels the trip.  Refunds for any purchased gear Add Ons will be issued up to 30 days prior to the trip.  Once a spot is secured, it is no longer available to other potential participants, and last minute cancellations make it difficult to fill those spots late notice. This policy is in place to help ensure everyone has equal opportunity to participate.

Weather Dependent: This trip will cancel if rain is forecasted with full refunds provided

This women’s only backpacking excursion will take us on a 5.5 mile trek to Wildcat Camp in Point Reyes.  The trail offers great ocean views with moderate elevation gain and is appropriate for all skill levels.  Once at the group campground, we will set up camp, where there is potable water and pit toilets.  We will enjoy an afternoon at the beach with a 1 mile walk to Alamere Falls (tides permitting) which is a tidefall waterfall that drops into the ocean.   Our evening will be spent under the stars with plenty of time to socialize before settling into our tents for the night. The following morning we will enjoy the sunrise, have breakfast, break down camp and head back down the trail  between 10:00am and Noon depending on the preferences of the group.

As the trip unfolds, I am happy to share any knowledge I may have on the subject of backpacking to educate those who may be new to this side of adventure.  Take what you like and leave the rest.  Questions are always welcome.

Participants will meet at the Palomarin Trailhead Parking Lot https://goo.gl/maps/dbuNfojkjU655RAZ8 at 8:00 am.  There, we will distribute any rental gear before setting off.

Skill Level:  While no backpacking experience is required, participants should have some hiking experience in hills.  This trip does require that you be able to walk with a pack, weighing 25-30 lbs, for a short distance.

Each participant will carry their own pack with their personal belongings and any rented gear.

What is covered by the minimum contribution:

  • All necessary permits
  • Organizer’s time in organizing, securing permits, and communicating prior to and during the event.

What is included in Gear Add On:

  • Backpack
  • Sleeping Bag (0 degree)
  • Sleeping Pad
  • 3 person tent (double occupancy)
  • Head lamp
  • Hiking Poles

What is not included:

  • Transportation
  • Food and cooking gear:  I’m happy to offer some easy suggestions on simple (affordable) food and cooking options/setups
  • Backpacking equipment unless a gear add on is secured

It is important to remember that carrying 25-30 pounds on your back is much easier than carrying it in your arms.  Packs are designed for the bulk of the weight to sit on your hips with your legs doing the work.  Equally important is to remember that we have to carry anything we are taking so being selective in what we take is important.  A suggested packing list is available upon request.

The organizer is not a paid guide and assumes no liability/responsibility for participants.  Each participant is solely responsible for themselves and should ensure they are staying within their skillset.  That being said, beginners are VERY welcome, and the organizer is open to answering questions and educating.  Emails and text messages will be answered as soon as possible upon receipt.  The organizer will walk at whatever pace is necessary to keep a visual on the person in the back.  Those who prefer to go ahead, may do so, at their own risk.  I encourage everyone to download AllTrails (paid subscription is not necessary) to review the intended route. Wildcat Camp Route
